The morning after the time change

Our clocks went back an hour early this morning, signalling the end of Daylight Saving Time.

My granddaughter, obviously, didn't get that memo since she got up at 7:00 a.m.  Considering that her usual time to rise is 8:00 a.m., I guess she got up at her usual time.  The problem is that I took the time to actually sleep through until 6:30 (7:30 before the time changed).  Even though I usually get up at 6:30 prior to the time change, I certainly didn't want to get up at 5:30 this morning.  Suffice it to say, I did not accomplish very much.  Early mornings are usually for me to work on my blog and videos, and do some creative work before my son and granddaughter get up and school starts, .....and I relish that ME time in the mornings.

This is my least favorite time change, however.  I hate the fact that we have shorter days, and it gets so dark so early.  The cold, plus shorter days while dealing with a chronic illness, is the perfect recipe for cabin fever.

As a highly sensitive person, I am prone to depression due to the weather change.  With a Vitamin D deficiency, it will be even more of a challenge to get as much sunlight as possible.  It just means that I will be getting out in the yard early in the morning when the sun is coming up. I already take a Vitamin D supplement, but I love the sunlight....(even though POTS and lupus makes it intolerable).

Yesterday, I cut up a pumpkin and roasted the seeds.  I know those are great for people who deal with depression, so maybe I was instinctively getting ready for this upcoming season.  The pumpkin pulp is ready to go for soups and lattes and breads,...and so much more.

I  hang my clothes out on the line to dry, so I will have to do that even earlier to take advantage of the sunlight as much as I can.

How does this time change affect you, if at all?  I know we actually gain an hour, but does it have any effects other that giving us an extra hour of sleep the morning after the end of Daylight Saving Time?

So do you have any tips for surviving the time change?
