Original Art by Gina Welds Hulse
Today was a rainy day in my area. It started very early in the morning with a torrential downpour, and rain continued periodically throughout the day.
I remember watching a bunch of flowers in my backyard as the rain fell. You would think that these delicate objects would bend and buckle under the pressure of the rain beating against them, but they stood tall.
The last few days were very tough, and I think I was meant to watch these flowers today as they strained under the rain showers.
They taught me several lessons just watching them.
They taught me to feel the rain, to enjoy the season of life that I am currently in, pain and all.
They taught me to have faith, and remember that after a short while the sun will reappear from behind the clouds.
They taught me to stay grounded, no matter what I may be going through, and to make sure that I take care of myself (to water myself often).
They taught me to continue smiling and spreading my colors into the rest of the world.
They reminded me that I am surrounded with friends. Have you ever seen wildflowers on the side of the road? They are usually quite a few different kinds of them together.
They reminded me to take my time, and to surround myself with people who allow me to blossom.
They reminded me to focus on the good. They always reach towards the sunshine, no matter what rain is pouring down on them.
Please enjoy this song entitled, "In the eye of the storm." It's a reminder that God is always in control, no matter what is going on around us, or the battles we may be dealing with.
